                             Order to Continue

This matter comes before the Iowa Public Information Board (IPIB) this 16th day of December, 2021, to consider the Motion to Continue.

The IPIB accepted the complaint against the City of Steamboat Rock on July 15, 2021.  Pursuant to Iowa Code section 23.9, the parties negotiated and reached an Informal Resolution.  The Informal Resolution was approved by the parties and the IPIB, with approval by the IPIB occurring on October 21, 2021.

The terms of the Informal Resolution were scheduled to be completed no later than December 20, 2021.  Legal counsel has requested a continuance of four weeks, or to January 17, 2022, to complete the terms.

The IPIB finds that it is appropriate to grant the request for a four week continuance.

THEREFORE, the IPIB orders that terms of the Informal Resolution shall be completed no later than January 17, 2022.

                            Motion to Continue

COMES NOW, Margaret E. Johnson, Executive Director for the Iowa Public Information Board (IPIB), and respectfully submits this Motion to Continue:

On June 18, 2021, Wren Hoffman filed formal complaint 21FC:0048, alleging that the City of Steamboat Rock violated Iowa Code chapter 21.

The IPIB accepted the complaint on July 15, 2021, and directed IPIB staff to assist the parties in adopting an Informal Resolution.  The parties approved an Informal Resolution, and the IPIB approved the Informal Resolution on October 21, 2021.

The terms of the Informal Resolution were to be completed no later than December 20, 2021.  Legal counsel for the City of Steamboat Rock requested a four week continuance to allow additional time to verify full compliance with the Informal Resolution.

Upon providing proof of full compliance, the IPIB agreed to dismiss this complaint as successfully resolved.

It is recommended that the IPIB grant a four week continuation, to January 17, 2022, to allow for completion of the terms of the Informal Resolution.
